Vintage The Jennifers 90s

The short-lived but influential British rock band formed in Oxford in 1990. Comprised of Gaz Coombes (vocals, guitar), Nic Goffey (guitar), Danny Goffey (drums), and Andy Davies (bass), the band gained a local following and released one highly sought-after single, “Just Got Back Today,” on Nude Records in 1992. Although their time together was brief due to creative differences and disillusionment with their record label, The Jennifers are most notable for being the precursor to the hugely successful Britpop band Supergrass, as Gaz and Danny Coombes went on to form Supergrass with Mick Quinn shortly after The Jennifers disbanded, carrying forward their songwriting partnership. The provocative image of the woman licking a popsicle on the shirt captures a certain indie/alternative rock aesthetic prevalent in the early 90s.
